Co-Op Class

During the spring semester of my sophomore year I was hired as an RA on campus. This was a super interesting experience and I am excited to continue being an RA until I graduate. RA's were told to take the co-op class when we started so that way we could be prepared for the position. At first, I did not really understand why but I quickly learned a lot about setting goals for myself and having reasonable expectations. I think that this class helped me to apply myself to situations a lot more and to see the other side of things. The class gave a was honestly rather easy but I always tried to make it fun for myself. We had a few assignments where we really had to think about ourselves and our plan for the future, which can be kind of overwhelming at times but useful. I found myself using a lot of the tools and resources that I learned in the class and applying them further on and into my everyday life. The class was all online but there were a few assignments that required us to  go out and do tasks, like the assignment where we had to go to a career fair. I was unfortunately unable to go because I had class during the time that we were available to go but I heard from my peers that the activity was great for meeting others in similar fields. I really liked how interactive it was and helped prepare me for my role as an RA at Dabney and am grateful for how well I was able to transition into the RA role due to this class. The assignment I would like to showcase is the LinkedIn refresh activity that we did. Basically the assignment was to make your LinkedIn was updated with a new photo and a biography and the current job that we were in the class for. My LinkedIn ended up looking a lot better and considering I never had one before it was nice to find out about it as a resource. I wish we would have done more activities on LinkedIn because it would help us to get more jobs in the future and network at a young age and prepare us for the professional world. However, I feel like this class was a great introductory start and that those skills could have definitely been honed in on if needed. To see more of my LinkedIn and some of the work that was done in this class here is my LinkedIn page: https://www.linkedin.com/feed/
